Turkey teriyaki and pineapple burgers

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (560 g) of canned pineapple rings
  • 0.5 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 900 g of ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger root
  • 0.5 tbsp. panko breadcrumbs
  • 8 whole grain hamburger buns
  • 8 slices Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese

Preparation:

  1. Drain the pineapple, reserving 0.5 cups of the liquid. Set aside 2 pineapple rings for another use or to eat. Combine the teriyaki sauce and remaining pineapple juice in a small bowl.
  2. Combine ground meat, ginger, breadcrumbs, and 1/4 cup teriyaki mixture. Form into 8 patties.
  3. Grill the patties, brushing them with the remaining teriyaki mixture, until golden brown and cooked through. Place the pineapple slices on the grill and grill until charred.
  4. Serve the patties on buns with cheese and pineapple.
