Meatballs in tomato sauce

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices Texas toast
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 0.7 kg ground turkey
  • 0.7 kg of sausage mince
  • 2 cups finely grated Parmesan
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, plus extra for serving
  • 5 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • Olive oil, for frying
  • 4 tbsp. store-bought marinara sauce
  • 1 kg bucatini pasta, cooked, for serving
  • 12 fresh basil leaves, for serving

Preparation:

  1. Soak Texas toast in milk in a shallow bowl for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, add the ground turkey and sausage, Parmesan, parsley, garlic, onion, and some salt and black pepper. Add the soaked bread and milk. Mix everything together (the bread will fall apart) and form into 3 large balls.
  3. Heat a little olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the meatballs and fry thoroughly on all sides, moving them around to maintain their shape. The meatballs should fit snugly in the pan.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce and add water, if needed, to cover the meatballs. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer, turning the meatballs carefully halfway through, until cooked through, about 1 hour.

For servingPlace the bucatini pasta on a plate and top with the sauce and meatballs. Sprinkle with parsley and basil.
