topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp (45 g) butter
  • 1 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 8 thin slices of white bread
  • 280 g Taleggio cheese, sliced, rind removed
  • 220 g thinly sliced ham
  • 1 green apple, thinly sliced

Preparation:

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon (15 g) of butter with the olive oil. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can use prepared onion preserves instead of caramelized onions.
  2. Place 4 slices of bread on a work surface. Top with half the cheese, then half the ham, a layer of caramelized onions, apple slices, and top with the remaining ham, cheese, and remaining bread slices.
  3. Wipe out the skillet; melt 1 tablespoon (15 g) butter over medium-low heat. Place 2 sandwiches in the skillet and cook, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown on the bottom and the cheese is melted, about 4 minutes.
  4. Flip and cook on the other side until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Repeat with the remaining butter and sandwiches.
