Ingredients:

  • 1 large red onion
  • Light vegetable oil, such as peanut, canola, or sunflower oil, for drizzling over the onions
  • Steak seasoning or coarse salt and black pepper

Preparation:

  1. Cut a thin slice from the side of a whole, unpeeled onion. Place it flat on a work surface. Slice the onion into 4 1-inch-thick slices. Remove the outer ring of skin from each slice. Drizzle the sliced ​​onions with vegetable oil and season all sides with steak seasoning or salt and black pepper to taste. Grill on a hot grill or in a nonstick skillet for 5-7 minutes per side, until the onions are tender and beginning to caramelize.
