Nun's Sighs Donuts

Ingredients:

  • 200 g butter
  • 400 g of sugar
  • 5 beaten eggs
  • 500 ml of water
  • 500 g of premium flour
  • Lemon peel
  • Olive oil
  • Powdered sugar

Preparation:

  1. Pour water into a saucepan and heat. Add butter, sugar, and lemon zest. When the water boils, remove the zest with a slotted spoon.
  2. Gradually add the flour, whisking constantly with a wooden spoon. Once all the flour has been added, cook the dough for 15 minutes or until it easily pulls away from the sides and bottom of the pan.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool. Stir constantly, adding the eggs one at a time.
  4. Knead the dough and roll it out on a flat surface into a voluminous layer. Cut the dough into cubes.
  5. Pour plenty of olive oil into the frying pan. When it's hot, drop in the dough cubes and fry until golden brown.
  6. Remove the finished donuts from the oil and place them on paper towels.

    Dust the donuts with powdered sugar and serve.
