Make this dessert in just 15 minutes: peel, core, and halve 4 pears. Place them in a shallow dish with 1 cup white wine, 2/3 cup sugar, 2 strips of grapefruit zest, and 1 vanilla bean halved lengthwise. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave for 10 minutes. Serve the pears with vanilla syrup; top with whipped cream, if desired.
