Ingredients:
- 1 pack of active dry yeast
- 3 cups of warm water
- 4 cups premium wheat flour
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the syrup:
- 2 tbsp. honey
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup of water
- Ground cinnamon to taste
Preparation:
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in 2 cups of warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes. Add 2 cups of wheat flour and stir. Add the milk and eggs.
Once the ingredients are completely combined, add another 2 cups of flour. The dough should be thick but not stiff; add more water if necessary. Stir in the vanilla extract. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for about 2 hours.
- For the syrup In a small saucepan, combine honey, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. Keep warm.
Heat the oil to 350°F (182°C). Using a large spoon, drop the dough into the hot oil. It will immediately puff up and float to the surface. When the donuts are golden brown on all sides, remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. You should get about 60 donuts. Drizzle with warm syrup and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve immediately.
