Yellow rice

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups long-grain rice or basmati rice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp (15 g) butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp of water
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Preparation:

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the turmeric, cumin, and cinnamon over low heat for 30 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Add the water, salt, and butter and bring to a boil. Add the rice and stir well.

    Cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to very low. Simmer, covered and without stirring, until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 20 minutes.

    Remove from heat and let stand, uncovered and without stirring, for 10 minutes. Stir with a fork, add green onions, and serve.
