How to cook black rice

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup black rice
  • Coarse salt

Preparation:

  1. In a medium saucepan, cover the rice with 1 3/4 cups water and add 1/4 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then cover, reduce heat, and simmer until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 30 minutes.
  2. Turn off the heat and let sit, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff the black rice with a fork, season with salt, and serve.
