Coconut pits for Halloween

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • Cooking spray
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp lime zest + 1 tbsp lime juice (1 large lime)
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of salt
  • 0.5 cup seedless raspberry jam
  • 1 can (350 g) chilled pizza dough
  • 1 beaten egg

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the coconut, sugar, lime zest, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Set aside. In another small bowl, combine the raspberry jam with the lime juice. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough with a rolling pin into a 25x30 cm rectangle. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into twelve 2.5 cm wide strips.
  4. Tie both ends of the strips into a knot and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each "bone" with a small amount of beaten egg, then sprinkle with the coconut mixture.
  5. Bake until golden brown and the pits are puffed, 13–16 minutes. Remove from the pan and serve with raspberry-lime "blood" for dipping.
