Slow Cooker BBQ Beef topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons lightly salted soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sambal-olek sauce
- 1 cut of beef shoulder-neck (1 kg), boneless, cut in half
- 2 tsp Chinese Five Spice Powder
- 4 carrots, cut into 1cm pieces.
- 1 turnip, peeled and cut into 1cm pieces.
- Boiled white rice, for serving
- Green onions, thinly sliced, for serving
Preparation:
- In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup water, hoisin sauce, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, and sambal oelek. Sprinkle the beef on all sides with Chinese seasoning and season with salt and pepper. Combine the carrots and turnips in a 6- to 8-quart slow cooker. Add the beef and pour the sauce over it; turn to coat. Cover and cook over low heat until the beef is very tender, 7-10 hours.
- Using a slotted spoon, transfer the vegetables to a bowl. Shred the beef with two forks, add the sauce, and toss to combine. Serve the beef with the vegetables and rice, garnished with green onions.
