Caprese salad with mozzarella cheese and olive oil

Ingredients:

  • 700 g ripe tomatoes, peeled and cored
  • 450 g fresh mozzarella
  • 3/4 - 1 tsp fine sea salt or fleur-de-sel
  • 1/3 cup basil leaves, torn into thin strips
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Preparation:

  1. Slice the tomatoes and cheese into 0.5 cm thick slices. Arrange the salad on a serving platter or individual plates, alternating tomatoes and cheese so that each cheese slice has 2-3 slices of tomato. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with basil leaves and drizzle with olive oil. Serve at room temperature.
