Ingredients:
- 1.5 tbsp. chopped oats
- 0.5 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg
- 2 very ripe bananas, mashed with a fork
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Special equipment: 6 liter slow cooker.
Preparation:
- In a 6-quart slow cooker, combine the oats, nutmeg, bananas, and cinnamon stick with 7.5 cups of water and 1/8 teaspoon of salt. Cook on low for 8 hours.
- Serve oatmeal with any toppings.
Toppings Toasted almonds or coconut flakes, nuts, fresh or dried berries, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, coconut milk, almond milk, cow's milk or yogurt.
Toasted sliced almondsToast 1/3 cup sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat, shaking frequently, until golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes.
Toasted coconut flakesPlace 1/3 cup coconut flakes in a dry frying pan and toast over medium heat until golden brown, 1-2 minutes.
